Software updates and bug fixes are included in an initial software purchase for the first year after activation. After that first year, customers need to purchase a software maintenance plan to access further software updates and bug fixes.
Purchasing a software maintenance plan provides (i) access to software updates and bug fixes for the version of software purchased; and (ii) basic remote software support (by phone or email), for the time period the maintenance plan is in effect. Customers who decline to purchase a software maintenance plan (or allow a software maintenance plan to lapse) will be required to purchase a plan for all lapsed years to be entitled to software updates and bug fixes for their version of software. Customers can continue to use software after the first year without a maintenance plan, but will not be entitled to updates or bug fixes released during the lapsed period.
A software maintenance plan does not include any license to new versions of software, onsite support, system installation support, code support, or complex troubleshooting (as solely defined by NaturalPoint). Purchasing a maintenance plan for one version of software (e.g., Motive 2.0) does not entitle the user to a license to later released version or associated updates (e.g., Motive 3.0). A software maintenance plan is not a warranty. Software is provided AS IS, without any express or implied warranties, and all purchases are subject to the NaturalPoint Terms & Conditions of Sale.
